HeartMind International is a public charity (501(c)(3)) with the mission to provide culturally-appropriate and sustainable mental health care to the most vulnerable populations around the world. HeartMind International is dedicated to improving mental health and psychosocial services in South Asia and for the South Asian diaspora. HeartMind International’s current programs serve individuals living in rural Nepal.
On April 25th, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck rural Nepal approximately 77 km west of Kathmandu. More than 3,800 people have been confirmed dead and 6,900 injured. The United Nations estimates that 8 million people have been affected through loss of shelter, water, food, and medical care.
You can help affected families in Nepal by supporting mental health and psychosocial services that will be delivered in accord with the World Health Organization and Inter-Agency Standing Committee Guidelines in a coordinated nationwide mental health and psychosocial services response. Services will be delivered through Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) Nepal, a Nepali non-governmental organization with a decade of experience responding to humanitarian emergencies.
